Sturling is a game with two-person teams open to anyone using a stick or the traditional slide.
The name Sturling was chosen to represent ’S’tick or ‘S’lide delivery, ‘T’wo-person team and c’URLING’.
The idea behind the sport is to be more inclusive for players with physical limitations who may be unable to sweep or brush,
as well as to increase the challenge by not having the extra advantage sweeping provides to guiding thrown stones.
The only sweeping allowed in the game is from the hog line to the back of the house at the playing end.
The two delivering players alternately deliver six stones each per end, so the action really does move along quite quickly.
The second team member skips the other end of the sheet, and the roles are reversed when playing the next end, and so on.
To keep the aim of a strategic game, no stone, even if it's in the house, may be removed from play prior to the delivery of the fourth stone at each end.
The rules for sturling and/or stick curling are very similar except in sturling you can choose between a stick or slide delivery.
Many clubs can and have altered rules to suit their club’s needs.
